Geek, Gamer geek and so much more
Ok, So today I got a PC only game installed and running on a Mac. Why
you might ask? Because my wife likes certain types of mmorpg games and
so many of them are PC only. My Wife, God Love her, is a Mac snob.
Will NOT touch a PC even if her life depended upon it. So, I either try
to find mmorpgs that have a mac client, or try to figure out how to get
PC software to run on a Mac. Enter WINE. well sort of. There are
several pieces of software out there that use something called WINE
(Wine Is Not an Emulator..or WINdows Emulator), a compatibility layer
that lets programs THINK they are running in windows. The particular
piece of software I am using is Crossover For Mac. There is another
called Cedega (at leasts thats the Linux implementations name). I have
installed one mmorpg (Guild Wars) and so far so good. it is smooth as
glass on the boot and set-up/character creation screens. With Guild
wars there is a HUGE download after install so I am waiting on that to
finish before I can see game play. I am at 65% now. I will update
later...but so far ..so good.....
